Helping to pack down and carry equipment in Sheffield
Time & Location

Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln LN1 3DY, UK
What's involved
We'd like to put together a team of people to help pack away our equipment. We've already had some informal help with this, but we'd like to try to make it more organised, and easier for everyone. Some of our equipment needs packing and transporting in very specific ways in order to prolong its life, and it's not feasible to expect volunteers to learn and remember all of the different quirks of all the different pieces of gear so that everything is packed and handled correctly.
So, we'd like to suggest that we have a team of volunteers, and that each person is responsible for one item of equipment. We can show them the right way to pack up and transport that one item. This will include loading the item into the van (into a specific place, in a specific order, so that things don't move around in transit).
Some items of equipment are heavy, but not all are, so there's scope for people to help who aren't comfortable carrying heavy items. We'd also like to suggest that whoever is responsible for an item of equipment also looks after the cables that connect to that item.
In the options below, please select the equipment you'd like to be trained on and responsible for. We'll arrange to go through with you everything you need to know about that equipment and any associated cables.
Options
Laptop and audio interface
Plus mouse, power supply, USB cable, two audio cables - all carried in a laptop bag. (One hand or shoulder strap)
£0.00
Bose mixer and microphone
Plus ToneMatch cable, mic cable - packing away only, no carrying required
£0.00
Music stand and mic stand
Mic stand requires a firm hand - it can be stiff to unscrew
£0.00
Bose PA base and sub units
Plus Speakon cable and power cable (in cable bag). Both units are heavy.
£0.00
Bose PA vertical speakers
Plus power extension reel, in cable bag. Speakers are a little unwieldy, and fairly heavy.
£0.00
Two sets of legs
Piano legs and table legs. Packing table away must be done with care - it's easy to injure your fingers otherwise.
£0.00
Table top
Ideally suited to people of at least moderate height - it's very awkward to carry comfortably if you're short! (Only needs one hand to carry).
£0.00
Cable bag
Collect coiled cables from other volunteers, then carry bag. It's on wheels and is easy to drag, but heavy to carry.
£0.00
