Solo Development Session Oct 2024
An opportunity to work on a solo song. Bring a song that you are working on, and have a reasonably clear idea of what you want to get out of the session. Tim will focus on the areas you want to work on and help you take the next step.

About the event
You'll need to provide the music to your song. If you're singing to live piano accompaniment, hand a copy of the sheet music to Toni at your weekly session, or send a PDF of it, at least one full week before the Solo Development Session. If you're singing to backing track, send your MP3 file to us, also at least one full week before the session. It can be helpful to have the sheet music too, but it's not mandatory.
The session starts with a quick warm-up with all participants together, then each singer takes it in turns to have their slot. During your slot, you'll sing through your song, work on the areas you want to work on, and optionally have the chance to sing it through again after working on it. At every point, you have the option of having your performance recorded and/or filmed if you wish - if you choose to do this, your recording or video will be shared with you (and only you!) afterwards.
You can use the Solo Development Session to work on anything you like, at any level. If you've never sung a solo before, it's a great way to try it out in a supportive environment, in front of a small number of people. If there are particular things within a song you'd like to get better at, whether that's technical things like supporting higher notes or more performance-focussed things, we can work on them together. If you'd just like to gain experience singing to other people, that's fine too, as is preparing a song for audition (or working further on a song after auditions).
Also, although the title is "SOLO Development Session", these sessions are also open to duets, trios, or small ensembles.
If you have any questions about what's involved or how it works, please get in touch and we'll be happy to answer them.
